  • Start musikCube in tray on Windows startup. This starts musikCube in the tray in the bottom right corner and to bring musikCube up all you have to do is click the cube icon or you can control musikCube from the cube icon in the tray by right clicking
  • Automatically synchronize directories on start up allows you to sync directories you commonly add music to, but first you must establish a directory synchronization by File -> Synchronization... then click add and navigate to the directory you want synchronized.
  • Use UTC Time Coordinated Universal Time

Workflow

  • Prompt when dropping files onto playlist controls appearance of the dialog that appears when using drag and drop to add files to musikCube. The dialog asks the user whether they wish to "Add these files to the "Now Playing playlist", "Add these files to the currently active playlist", or "Add these files to the library only" and you are given the option of having your answer remembered. If you turn this off musikCube assume the default action (which is to add them to the now playing playlist).
  • Show all songs in the playlist view when selecting "Show all" in the selection boxes. If unchecked the songs shown in the selection box won't change when "Show all" is clicked.
  • Double clicking a song starts playback and sets the visible playlist as the Now Playing playlist when the user double clicks a song that is the song and play list that start playing.
Or: Double clicking a song queues a song in Now Playing queues just the song you clicked in Now Playing.

Devices

  • Allows the user to choose which devices, drives, they want to appear in the sources list. For example A: is hidden by default, but C: isn’t.

Transparency

  • Enable enables window fading
  • Window Active: Sets transperancy transition length when clicking musikCube or activating it.
  • Window Inactive: Sets transperancy transition length when clicking off musikCube.

Sound

Crossfader

  • Allows the user to customize their crossfader settings and to save crossfader presets. To save presets just alter the crossfader settings then click add under the presets side of the tab.

Driver

  • Sound Device allows the user to choose the sound card they would like to use with musikCube if they have more than one sound card installed.
  • Playback Rate (hz) allows the user to adjust playback rate. The lower the rate, the lower the quality, but the better the CPU usage is. 44100 is CD quality
  • Buffer Size (msecs) allows the user to adjust the buffer for playback. The larger the number the larger the playback buffer and less chance of a song skipping.

Misc

Tunage

  • (For info about the Post URL there is the thread "Tunage / Post URL? (http://www.musikcube.com/punbb/viewtopic.php?id=304)" in the forum.)

if you follow that chain you will eventually find this post by Otto:

Tunage has three bits.

  • The first will execute an HTTP GET to a web server, and you could write a script that used this to dynamically change info on a webpage.
  • The second will write to a text file.
  • The third will run a program.

In all three of these, you can use stuff like $ARTIST, $ALBUM, $TITLE and so forth in the text you enter into the fields, and it'll get replaced with the proper information from the currently playing song.

You can actually use the following bits in your line of text:

$ARTIST
$PLAYLISTPOS
$ALBUM
$TITLE
$GENRE
$NAME
$DURATION
$FILENAME
$FILESIZE
$BITRATE
$TIMESPLAYED
$TRACKNUM
$RATING

Internet

  • Allows the user to specify the freedb server used by the CD ripper. Default is uk.freedb.org.

Auto Capitalize

  • There is an auto-capitalize feature built into musikCube for auto-capitalizing words in tags, the information saved in a song read by musikCube and most other players to display artist, title, time, etc. On this tab you can put words on the exclude list so they are not auto-capitalized when writing tags (unless they are the first or last word in the phrase).

Files

Associations

  • Allows the user to define musikCube as the default player for the files types listed.
