Bug Reports
From Musik
If you think you have found a bug in musikCube we would like to hear about it. Please keep in mind: There won't be an official update for mC1!
How to Report a Bug
Before reporting a bug, please check the Bug Reports List (http://musikcube.clangen.org/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&status=closed&group=priority&order=priority) on Trac (http://musikcube.clangen.org/) and also search the forum (http://www.musikcube.com/punbb/viewforum.php?id=2) to see if anyone has already reported this bug (and take a look on this posting (http://www.musikcube.com/punbb/viewtopic.php?pid=9980#p9980)). If you find an existing report, see if you can add additional details that have not been mentioned in the respective forum thread - some bugs are hard to trace, and it is always a good thing to have more information.
If there are no reports in the list matching the bug, create a new ticket. Please follow the bug reporting guidelines.
Bug Report Guidelines
Here are a few basic guidelines for reporting bugs that will help us to resolve things quicker:
1. Check to make sure no one has reported the bug already and make sure it is a bug, not a feature request (also if you are willing to, try the nightly CVS build to see if your bug is already fixed).
2. Make a clear topic name and begin it with [UNCONFIRMED].
3. Make sure you fill in the following fields in the ticket:
- Type Should be set to defect for bug reports
- Priority Trivial, Minor, Major, Critical or Blocker (critical is reserved only for cases where data is lost and blocker stops the program from being run at all)
- Version The version number (for now should always be 1.0)
- Components If you know, select from the list the bit of musikCube that contains the bug. MusikCore is the library, playlists, playback etc., MusikCube is the interface, Formats is problems with a specific file type (eg. a crash only seen when playing WMA files)
In the description, please also be sure to include
- Windows version: OS and Service Pack etc. (details can be found on Windows by going to "Start" => "Run...", type winver and click "OK")
- Plugins Installed: Please list any format or feature plugins you have installed.
- Bug Description: Please provide as detailed a description you can of the bug.
- Steps to Reproduce: Please list the steps required to reproduce this bug in detail. This is imperative for us to locate the bugs. Make a list like:
- 1. Click this button
- 2. Do this
- 3. Hit Play
- etc.
4. Once you have reported your bug, please check it for responses in case we need more information. Please be patient in waiting for a reply, developers have lives, too.
