[RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

A few people have complained about musikcube stopping at the end of a song and displaying -1 for the time instead of going to the next song.

What are the odds of this being fixed by the next version?

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I am getting something similar now that I've upgraded to 0.92.3.
This didn't happen before, but now I am getting an error message: The operation timed out yikes

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

Does this happen after any particular song, or at random? Or after every song?

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

it's inconsistent. can happen at any time or not at all. can occur with any song. It's ok at the moment. A funny one.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

It seems to happen with the same songs every time you allow musikcube to play through the entire thing.  Skipping through it prevents it from happening for some reason.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

The thing that has me troubled is the caption "musik" ... every caption in the real program should be "musikCube" ... do you guys have any plugins installed?

Yea, I was thinking that error looked odd too.... doesn't seem like it's a mC error

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I have had this error myself but only on particular mp3 files.  I'm just going to bet that the files are corrupted in some way.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

This is a funny one. Now last night I was playing through a Random 50 dynamic playlist. And every track stopped at the end. The operation timed out error message came up - and there was a fresh message for each track - and I noticed that the second row down was blank. The row I am referring to is the one at the top of your screen that starts with File Edit View, and so on. The musikCube banner was there at the very top. Next row nothing -  a white strip.

Now can you believe it everything is lovely tonight. It's all working fine. This is a funny one.

And avatar3d, I don't think I have any plugins installed - how do I check?

EDIT I just found plugin mgr. I have mcAmp but I don't think I use it - dunno wassit for - oh I see: winamp. Never used that. I've come here from foobar sad I prefer to use mC smile

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

This is very strange indeed. So sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn't, even on the EXACT same group of files?

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I want to test something out: anybody know a good metadata stripping program that will totally remove all of the tags of a file?

Well I know that The Godfather can remove ID3 (1 & 2) but don't know if it removes everything

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

MusicBringer, that happens when, for whatever reason, Tunage cannot communicate correctly with the Now Playing Service.

I'd bet Otto could suggest a program to erase all metadata on a file since he seems to do it to his files.

For MP3 files, TidyMP3 is your boy. It works different than most tag removal programs, as it simply keeps everything that it recognizes as "music" and dumps everything else. I've used it to fix problems with specific files a number of times.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

Casey just suggested a great program and aparently the offending mp3s are corrupted in some manner.  For me, the header data was corrupted so a quick fix with this program solved my problem:

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

Ahhh... Yeah, I've used VBRFix to fix MP3s playing back on my iPod incorrectly. The time display was wrong and seeking didn't work properly when it happened to some of my files.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I was having DNS trouble today and every time musikCube tried to contact the server for tunage i got the error that the server could not be resolved.

My problem is that while Musik was waiting for the DNS to time out the program hangs. Most of the time when the lookup succeeds its not too noticible but cant the tunage operation be done in the background?  Just a thought.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I looked into this (the Tunage error message), and it seems to happen internally within MFC. I don't know offhand how to turn it off. Any idea, Otto?

We may need to do some straight Win32 calls instead of using the MFC components.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I don't know where that MessageBox occurs. The only thing I can think of is that the call to OpenURL isn't in a try...catch block, so maybe the exception it throws causes the MessageBox to appear. You could catch the exception and ignore it, maybe. See if that helps.

Edit: Yeah, that's probably where it is. Any uncaught exceptions filter all the way back up to CWinApp and ProcessWndProcException(), which is the default exception handler for, essentially, everything. It throws a MessageBox.

So sticking a try...catch block in PostURL and ignoring the resulting exception should eliminate the error message.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

I have this odd bug too, this bug occurs on the same album but only if I disable the crossfader option. You have to
see what change when you disable the crossfader... I hope this could help you.

Re: [RESOLVED?] -1 time playback error?

Guillaume, I assume you're talking about the -1 playback bug.  If so, there is a problem with your mp3 files that could probably be fixed by the program I was talking about earlier:
