Just spent a long time creating one by dragging/dropping from main library list only to find it had included every single MP3 in the library instead. It's so frustrating. :-( Anyone know of any good alternatives out there that don't mess playlists up?

Hm, creating of static playlists via drag&drop should work (what did you do exactly?).
The biggest flaw of the function is that you can't lock your playlist, so when you re-sort your playlists by accident (clicking the columns), you can make the sorting all over again (workaround: export your playlists - see "new stuff" in my sig).
I personally do not use static playlists, only some dynamic ones. Mostly I browse my libray and put a Now Playling playist together.
Edit: I forgot to mention this bug (II.3b in my bug list).

Thanks for your reply, DocTriv.
Here's what I did. I went from top to bottom in the library and dragged/dropped to the new playlist I created. I used CTRL & SHIFT quite a bit to select in groups. I went through around 700 files and my end playlist should have been around 300. I modified 5-10 via properties along the way. Everything was going fine at the beginning (I'd click the playlist to check my progress). But once I was done, I checked and every single song from my library was also in the playlist. Even Christmas music that I know I didn't drag/drop.
I guess I was just so disappointed because musikCube sounded like such an awesome program. I love the tagging features (tag from filename and uppercase) as a lot of my MP3's were pretty messed up in that regard.
I ended up trying MediaMonkey and that seems to do pretty much the same things. Thankfully it left my playlist intact!

Ooh.. be careful with that tagging... I'll check your bug tonight but the tagging can mess up the genre field. Check in DocTriv's sig for details

Just wanted to reply to say something similar happens to me too. The static playlists seem very unstable, just now I noticed one I've been building for weeks has decided to replace itself with a bunch of random files and a similar thing happened the other week with a different playlist. It's really frustrating.

Is the following bug (mentioned above) the cause or are there more instabilities?
mC do not save the sorting when you change after sorting your library (e.g. click on Collected).
I would tend to say that mC only triggers the save-command when you click after sorting on the correct library (so you made and sorted a playlist in "Library", then click once on the "Library" tab and it is saved).

It just happened again, seems to happen with this one playlist a whole lot, I'm going to delete it and start a new one.
Basically I was looking at the playlist in question, I changed view to I think the Library view which has about 39gb of songs in it. I then went back to the playlist and it was suddenly populated by the contents of the library. That was it, previous playlist gone.
It's getting too frustrating to the point I think I'm going to have to ditch Mc until some of the more serious bugs are ironed out. It's annoying because when it's working it's the best player out there.

Exactly what happened to me. Go with MediaMonkey instead. You won't regret it. As to how a 1.0 release has such a bug, I'll never know.
musikCube has great promise though once all the bugs are hopefully worked out.

Problem 1: I wasn't able to reproduce the bug. I had the forgetfil static playlist bug, too (so there is this bug!), but I don't know when/how it happens exactly.
Problem 2: I doubt it, but maybe there is some mistake in working with mC by your side? "Library" and "Collected" have their own sets of playlists. And there is the "Reset view bug" (II.10). And other bugs
- mC 1.0 was just rushed out.
For just browsing your music and listening to it, mC works greatly (for me). But your are right that there are just too much bugs left under the hood. Well, this may happen when only one developer has to do all the work.

Well, I played a bit with static playlists and the problem appeared: suddenly the playlist is filled with other stuff. I don't know when and why it happened but the new songs in the playlists were IMO songs I searched for.
Added it to my buglist as a new point (II.3c).
PS: This thread is in the wrong forum
, unfortunately I can't move postings.
