When I use my volume wheel on my keyboard, it turns down the volume in only MusikCube only, but I dont want it to do that. I was it to turn my entire system volume down like it does in WMP and iTunes. Is there a way I can do this? This is the only thing that bugs me about MusikCube, everything else is brilliant.

My volume keys used to turn down the main volume in Windows, and now it only does it for mC. This is kind of hypocritical though, because I still want the play/pause etc buttons to control mC, which they do.
I used to think it was based on which program was associated with mp3s, but then that'd be Winamp. So not really sure how to change it.

I'll second this. If I want to change musikCube's volume, I'll use it's global shortcut keys - it shouldn't hijack my keyboard, too. Probably the most frustrating anti-feature of the whole program. Would love for it to be removed, or at least optional.

This problem will soon make me to move to an another jukebox... I need my keyboard volume buttons to control system volume and not just mC. It seems like that mC has higher priority then the system when dealing with volume control...

The problem with volume/multimedia keys are known, but the developer do not own such hardware.
I have a basic Logitech keyboard with Volume keys which always control Windows' Master Volume.
mC's global hotkeys for volume only control mC's volume.
And I do not use that at all - I just use Pause.

You can stop this by turning off the global hotkeys but I know that isn't ideal as it obviously stops you being able to use the hotkeys. But as a temporary fix it does for me.. I'll look into how that code works next week sometime, see how easily changed it is.

I know that this is a relatively old thread, but I encountered the same problem. Since the player is open source, I decided to change/fix it myself. It turned out that the developer assigned the "MediaKeyVolumeUp" and "MediaKeyVolumeDown" hotkeys to the corresponding functions in the player, so I commented them and all references to them out. The developer really ought to make this toggleable somewhere in the preferences ;P.
You can grab a copy of the modified file right here:

awesome! It works! So awesome!
just test it out some more. Play button works, next track works, but your previous track doesn't work. The volume controls windows, like it's supposed to, but previous crashes musikcube

Hrm, works just fine here.
Try turning global hotkeys off, clear your hotkeys, restart the program, then assign the keys again, then turn on global hotkeys :P.

Hey, powerasuce, are you are programmer? Maybe you want to help avatar3d improving mC at all?
Or take a look on some annoying bugs...?

As much as I'd like to help, I'm not really an advanced or accomplished programmer
. Luckily for me, this was a trivial thing to fix.

I've hacked the code a bit so that now there's a checkbox in the global hotkeys menu so that you can choose whether keyboard volume keys control windows or musikcube. Not sure how many people will want it seeing as you've already got the choice of the two, but I figure it's good to have the code there for an actual release version. Hopefully DocTriv can upload it soon.

You can find it here (updated!) on my new musikCube page.
Further testing on both musikCube.exes would be nice.
